The sheriff’s department has arrested a local man for the sex offender law.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, David Royden Drennan, 50, was charged on Feb. 8 for allowing minor children to live at his home in violation of his sex offender registration.
Meanwhile, 53 year old Kimberly Diane Lombardi of Sparta was charged with driving under the influence on Feb. 1.
Ray said a deputy responding to Short Mountain Highway to check out reports of a possible drunk driver was advised by central dispatch that the car had run off the road and wrecked. When he arrived, the deputy spoke with the driver, who proved to be Lombardi.
Her speech was allegedly slurred, and she was reportedly very unsteady on her feet. Ray said she submitted to, but performed poorly on field sobriety tasks. Lombardi apparently told the officer that she had taken a Xanax earlier in the morning. The deputy also noticed a blue powdery residue in her nose. She refused to submit to a blood alcohol test.
Her bond was set at $1,500, and she will appear in court on Feb. 25.
Kevin Clark Thomas, 22, of Baxter is charged with a second offense of driving under the influence and driving on a revoked license on Feb. 4.
The sheriff said that a deputy was patrolling Highway 70 east when he spotted a 1994 Saturn that appeared to have wrecked. He stopped and spoke with the driver, Thomas.
He was reportedly unsteady on his feet and allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his person.
Ray said Thomas told the lawman that he had consumed about seven beers. Thomas performed poorly on field sobriety tasks, and computer check revealed his' driver license was revoked on August 31, 2012 for driving under the influence in Putnam County.
His bond totals $3,500, and he will appear in court on Feb. 25
Brandan Timothy Greene, 27, of Buffalo Valley was charged with a second offense of driving under the influence and cited for driving on a suspended license and failure to maintain his lane of travel on Feb. 5.
The sheriff said a deputy initiated a traffic stop of a red Chevrolet Suburban for failing to maintain its lane of travel on Highway 70 east near Smith Road. As he approached the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside.
Greene, the driver of the Suburban, allegedly told the officer that he had been drinking and that he was drunk. Ray said Greene refused to submit to field sobriety tasks, saying that he was guilty and wanted the deputy to carry him on to jail.
He did submit to a blood test, and was placed under arrest. Greene has a prior DUI on May 3, 2012 in Smith County. His driver license was suspended for failure to pay restitution in 2015.
His bond was set at $3,000, and he will appear in court on Feb. 18.
Christopher Brian Pack, 44, was charged with introduction of contraband into a penal institution on Feb. 7.
Ray said that Pack was arrested on a community corrections violation warrant and brought to the jail. When a correctional officer later searched Pack's laundry bag he reportedly found two Klonopin and two Suboxone pills wrapped in a pair of socks.
Pack allegedly told the officers that he needed the pills to help him get over a cold. Before hiding the pills in the socks, Pack reportedly said he concealed them in his mouth.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on Feb. 18.
