Man arrested on two consecutive days for driving without license

A local man who had two previous charges for the same offense was caught driving on a suspended license by sheriff’s deputies on Dec 29, and then again on Dec. 30.

 

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, 44 year old Kevin Donald Bogle has been charged with two counts of driving on a suspended license (3rd offense).

 

Ray said a deputy saw Bogle operating a motor vehicle on Duncan Street on Dec. 29. Having prior knowledge that Bogle's license was suspended, the officer obtained a warrant for Bogle's arrest. The next day a deputy saw Bogle driving on West Broad Street. He was arrested and brought to the jail for booking.

 

His bond was set at $14,000 and he will appear in court on Jan 8.

 

Meanwhile, the sheriff’s department arrested a Smithville man in connection with a year-old theft case on Dec. 21. McKay Lindon Gray is charged with evading arrest and theft of property under $500.

 

The sheriff said a deputy was called to Antioch Road on December 18, 2013 to check out reports of a theft in progress. When the officer arrived, he saw two men, Gray and Justin Keith Manley, along with a woman, Stephanie Gray, loading a large pile of scrap metal onto a trailer. Gray allegedly fled the scene on foot, and escaped into a wooded area.

 

The woman allegedly told the deputy that their landlord had given them permission to gather up the scrap metal. An investigation revealed that all the metal had actually been taken from the adjoining property, and a fence between the two properties had been cut.

 

Manley was placed under arrest, and was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after the officer allegedly found a marijuana pipe in the man’s pocket. Warrants were also taken for the arrest of McKay Gray who was finally located on Dec 21.

 

His bond was set at $3,000 and he will appear in court Jan. 8.

 

Steven Jeffery Lohr, 41, was charged with resisting stop, frisk, halt, or arrest on Jan 1.

 

Ray said a deputy went to a residence on Martin Lane in Alexandria to serve a Rutherford County warrant on Lohr. Upon arrival the officer spotted Lohr in the window of the home and motioned for him to come outside. Lohr complied.

 

When the deputy identified himself and told Lohr why he was there, Lohr allegedly turned his back to the deputy and reached for his waist band. The officer asked Lohr to show his hands, but he refused. When the deputy tried to grab the man to see what he was doing with his hands, Lohr aggressively pulled away from the officer and resisted being handcuffed.

 

His bond was set at $1,500 and he will appear in court on Jan. 29

 

Jermaica Cherome League, 33, of Murfreesboro, charged in a grand jury sealed indictment with criminal conspiracy, was arrested on Dec. 27.

 

His bond was set at $20,000, and he will be arraigned in criminal court on Jan. 21.

 

Glen Ray Jones, 40, was charged with aggravated assault on Dec. 23.

 

Ray said a deputy was sent to a Hurricane Ridge Road home after an eight-year-old girl had reported that she was afraid because her mother and the mother’s boyfriend were fighting. The officer spoke with the child, who reportedly told him that she woke to hear her mother screaming for help.

 

Jones allegedly told the child that if she came into the room he would slap her. The deputy reportedly spoke with both Jones and the child's mother, and the woman said that Jones had been drinking, and came home and started swearing and screaming at her. The woman said she screamed for her child to go get help, and Jones placed his hand over her mouth in an attempt to keep her quiet.

 

He allegedly bit her on the hand when she grabbed his fingers, then tried to strangle her.

 

His bond was set at $2,500 and he will appear in court on Jan. 8.

 

Jacob Ross Daley, 25, of Sparta was charged with criminal trespassing.

 

The sheriff said Daley entered property on Luna Lane without the owner's consent on Christmas day. He was escorted off the property by a deputy and told not to return.

 

His bond was set at $5,000 and he will appear in court on Jan. 8.

 

Garth Layne Cantrell, 33, was charged with theft of property under $500 on Dec. 28.

 

Ray said Cantrell entered a residence and took a new Maxx-35N vehicle battery, and took a used side post battery from the front porch. Both batteries were allegedly recovered from Cantrell's truck.

 

His bond was set at $1,500 and he will appear in court on Jan. 8.

 

Tony Lee Petty, Jr., 22, was arrested for domestic assault on Dec. 29.

 

According to the sheriff, a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Cleveland Way for a physical domestic on Oct. 16. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a woman who said that she and her husband, Petty had gotten into an argument over baby formula.

 

He allegedly grabbed his wife, threw her against a bedroom door, a high chair, a couch, and an entertainment center. The woman reportedly had redness on the right side of her face and scratches on her wrist. Petty fled the scene on foot before the officer's arrival.

 

His bond was set at $2,500 and he will appear in court on Jan. 8.

 

Wendy Carol Bain, 41, was cited for simple possession of a Schedule II drug (Percocet), a Schedule IV drug (Tramodol), and a Schedule III drug (Suboxone) and failure to maintain lane of travel on Dec. 20.

 

Ray said Bain was driving a white Impala on East Broad Street when the deputy observed her leaving her lane of travel. He made a traffic stop and spoke with Bain. After receiving consent to search, the officer found six Tramadol pills, a half Percocet pill, and a half Suboxone in Bain's purse.

 

She will appear in court on Jan. 15.

 

Kimberly Ann Hall, 28, of Crossville was cited for possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia on Dec. 20. Hall was allegedly found with marijuana seeds, roach clips, four cut straws containing residue, a mirror with residue, and needles to shoot up methamphetamine.

 

She will appear in court on Jan. 15.

 

Nathan Charles Cantrell, 38, was charged with driving under the influence on Jan. 2. He was also cited for driving on the wrong side of the roadway and for simple possession.

 

Ray said a deputy was traveling in the southbound lane of Highway 56 when he saw a white Chevrolet Caprice leave its northbound lane of travel. The oncoming car almost struck the deputy's cruiser head-on.

 

The officer made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Cantrell. He detected a strong odor of alcohol on Cantrell's person. Cantrell's speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet. Cantrell submitted to and performed unsatisfactory on field sobriety tasks. He also took a blood test and was placed under arrest. While conducting an inventory of the car, the deputy found a small round orange pill believed to be Adderall, a schedule II drug.

 

His bond was set at $1,500 and he will appear in court on Jan. 22.

 

Vicky Lenae Alvis, 43, was charged with a third offense of driving on a revoked license and leaving the scene of an accident on Dec. 27. She was also cited for failure to maintain lane of travel, possession of a revoked license, and for violation of financial responsibility (no insurance).

 

Her bond was set at $7,500, and she will appear in court on Jan. 8.

 

Spencer Montgomery Wallace, 24 was charged with driving under the influence and cited for violation of the implied consent law, failure to exercise due care, and violation of the seatbelt law on Dec. 31.

 

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Jan. 15.

 

Jeremy Mark Ashburn, 30, was charged with a second offense of driving under the influence and possession of a firearm while under the influence on Dec. 20.

 

His bond was set at $4,000, and he will appear in court on Jan. 22.

 

John Wayne Leftwich, Jr., 32, was charged with driving under the influence after an automobile accident on Dec. 22.

 

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on March 5.

 

David Allen Sloan, 35, was charged with driving under the influence on Dec. 24.

 

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Jan. 22.

 

Robert Bruce Frutchey, 45, of Franklin was charged with driving under the influence and cited for a violation of driving on roads laned for travel on Dec. 27.

 

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on March 5.
