Christopher Eugene Layne, 28 was charged with driving on a revoked license and theft of property over $1,000 on Aug. 18. After he was allegedly caught pushing a stolen motorcycle.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, a deputy responding to a call concerning a man pushing a yellow motorcycle down the road in the Midway community made contact with Layne pushing the bike, and it was determined that the motorcycle had been stolen from Putnam county. The bike was valued at approximately $3,000.
He was charged with driving on a revoked after he allegedly told the deputy that he had been riding the bike and it had broken down. A computer check revealed that his license was revoked in March for failure to appear in Putnam County.
His bonds total $9,000, and he will appear in court on Aug. 20.
Meanwhile, Joe Riley Tittle, 28, was arrested on Aug. 23 for violation of bond conditions, and again on Aug. 24 on the same charge. The sheriff said a deputy dispatched to Sparta Highway in reference to a report of Tittle violating his bond conditions spoke to Tittle, who advised him that the victim who had taken a charge against him was inside the residence. His bond conditions dictate that he have no contact with the victim.
He was arrested, and his bond was set at $2,500.
Then the next day, he allegedly allowed the victim to enter the camper he was living in knowing that he had an active bond condition. "He can’t be around the victim," the sheriff said. "It doesn’t matter if the victim comes to him, he must stay away and have no contact with the victim."
His bond on the second offense was set at $4,000. He will appear in court on both charges on Aug. 27.
Jessica Leigh Estes, 22, of Mt. Juliet was charged with theft of property over $500 on Aug. 18.
Her warrant alleges that she entered a residence on July 25, went into bedroom while the victim was asleep and took the person’s car keys and $200 cash from a billfold. Estes then reportedly left in victims 2000 Buick LeSabre.
Her bond was set at $5,000, and she will appear in court on Aug. 27.
Don Diamond Groshon, 43, was arrested for assault on Aug. 19.
Groshon allegedly walked up to the victim and started punching him in the face. The man was reportedly knocked down, and Groshon got on top of him and continued punching until another person pulled him off.
His bond was set at $1500, and he will appear in court on Oct. 1.
