The Smithville Police Department reports that Officer Brandon Donnell arrested a 66 year-old Smithville man for aggravated assault on June 15.
According to the warrant, Ernest Ray Bane allegedly went to the residence of his ex-girlfriend, grabbed her by the arm leaving a bruise, and put a knife to her throat threatening her.
Bane’s bond is set at $10,000, and he will be in court on court Aug. 4.
Meanwhile, Donnell arrested Steven Craig Banfield, 35, for violation of an order of protection on June 6.
According to the warrant Donnell was dispatched to a 911 call on Highland Ave involving a to a possible domestic assault.
Upon arriving at the location and speaking to the accused man, Banfield stated that he and his ex-wife were having an argument.
Further investigation allegedly revealed that Banfield is under an order of protection to stay away from the ex-wife.
His bond was set at $3500, and his court date is to be on June 23.
On June 7 Donnell arrested Shane D Green of Vermont, 44, for DUI.
While on routine patrol traveling south on Congress Blvd the officer reportedly stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
Upon talking to the driver, Green, Donnell asked him for his license.
Green allegedly dropped his wallet several times, and could not keep his eyes open.
Green was reportedly asked to step out of the vehicle and perform several field sobriety tasks,which lead to his arrest.
His bond is set at $1500, and he will be in court on August 4.
Corporal Travis Bryant arrested Raymond Nelson Caldwell, 56, for DUI on June 7.
Bryant reportedly responded to a reckless driver call on West Broad Street, located the suspect vehicle, and observed as the vehicle traveled partially in the median for approximately a mile.
Bryant then allegedly stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Caldwell, who reportedly had slurred speech and failed to acceptably complete field sobriety tasks.
His bond is set at $1500, and he will be in court on June 23.
K-9 Officer James Cornelius cited William Corey Dickens, 26, for theft on June 18.
Cornelius was dispatched to a residence on Earl Avenue to help remove an unwanted guest.
Upon arrival Cornelius allegedly found Dickens loading a car with tools from a shed located on the property.
The victim stated that he was taking the tools from her shed without her permission. Dickens court date is set for June 23.
Officer Andy Snow arrested Jamaal Ahmad League, 24, for public intoxication on June 8.
Snow responded to Smith Road after a caller told the dispatch that a person had been jumping out from behind bushes and causing a disturbance to residents in the area.
While in the area, Snow allegedly made contact with League.
He allegedly had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and was identified as the person causing the disturbance.
K-9 Officer James Cornelius arrested 28 year-old Brandon Ross Bogle of Sparta for possession of drug paraphernalia on June 14.
Cornelius was reportedly dispatched to the local probation office after a call stating that a person on the property was possibly intoxicated.
Upon arrival he spoke with the probation officer, who told him that she had found drug paraphernalia on Bogle’s person.
Bogle’s bond is $1500, and he will be in court on June 26.
Corporal Bryant cited Maria Kathleen Smith, 38, for possession of drug paraphernalia on June 15.
Bryant reportedly stopped Smith on a complaint of possible intoxication.
Upon speaking with Smith, Bryant allegedly received consent to search her person, and found her to have drug paraphernalia in her possession.
Her court date is set for July 7.
Officer Bradley Tatrow arrested 23 year-old Alfredo Garcia Ordas for public intoxication on June 16.
Tatrow responded to an accident at Anthony Avenue and Miller Road in which one of the drivers involved had left the scene.
He allegedly found Ordas, who matched the description of the suspect walking down the road while enroute to the accident.
Upon stopping and making contact with Ordas,Tatrow observed him to be unsteady on his feet and judged that he had a strong odor of a fermented beverage about his person.
His bondis $1500, and his court date is set for June 23.
