The sheriff’s department has arrested a Lebanon man who was allegedly conned five local businesses and a member of the county fire department into putting up hundreds of dollars in down payments for t-shirts and caps that were never produced.
Greg Keith Oxendine, 59, was charged with six counts of theft on April 20.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, the man went to B&G Supply, Sue’s Taxidermy, Center Hill Nursery, Turtle’s Bar and Grill, AEI Recycling, and a member of the DeKalb County Fire Department between October and December 2014, collecting a total of $1,723.90 for merchandise that was never delivered.
Oxendine allegedly claimed to be a printer, and took orders and down payments for caps, t-shirts, and hoodies. The merchandise apparently never materialized, however, and Oxendine wouldn’t answer the phone when the victims attempted to reach him.
Oxendine was brought to DeKalb after being jailed in another county on similar charges. He will appear in court on May 5.
