Smithville Police have arrested a local man and charged him with indecent exposure after he allegedly exposed himself to a mail carrier in front of police.
According to city police, Roy Junior Wilkey was charged after Detective Brandon Donnell was contacted by the postmaster, who reportedly informed him that Wilkey had exposed his genitals to a female mail carrier when she stopped to deliver his mail.
Police said the detective accompanied the mail carrier on her route on Oct. 29 and observed Wilkey exposing himself to the woman.
His bond was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on Nov. 12.
Meanwhile, 49-year-old Marty Brent Tallent was arrested twice within a week on Oct 27 and charged with criminal trespassing, then again on Nov. 3 for public intoxication.
When Officer Farmer responded to Patty's Restaurant on Oct. 27 in reference to an unwanted guest, he reportedly spoke with Tallent. After being asked several times to leave, Tallent was taken into custody. His bond was set at $2,500 on that charge.
Then, on Nov. 3, Officer Tyler Patterson arrested Tallent for public intoxication after the officer responded to a public disturbance and spoke with Tallent, who had an odor of alcohol on his person and was acting in an irate manner.
His bond on that charge was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Dec. 17.
Robert John Sablich, 54, was arrested for aggravated assault on Oct. 27.
Police said Officer Matt Farmer responded to a 911 disturbance call involving an assault. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a woman who reportedly told him that Sablich assaulted her in the office of the Department of Children's Services by striking her about the head and grabbing her by the throat.
After an investigation with the assistance of Detective Donnell and K-9 Officer James Cornelius, Farmer located Sablich next door and placed him in custody.
His bond was set at $8,000.
James Glenn Barrett, 33, was arrested for driving under the influence and cited for violation of the implied consent law on Oct. 25.
Officer Patterson and Sergeant Brad Tatrow were reportedly on patrol when they came across a man slouched over in his vehicle in the McDonald's parking lot. A welfare check revealed the man to be Barrett, who allegedly had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person, bloodshot eyes, and was unsteady on his feet.
Police said Barrett performed poorly on sobriety tasks, and was arrested for the safety of himself and that of the public. His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Dec. 17.
Claudia Childress, 46, was cited for simple possession on Oct. 25.
Police said Officer Patterson and Sergeant Tatrow responded to a call of a suspicious person in front of the Emergency Room of St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. The woman, Childress, was found to have two pills in a bag, for which she had no prescription.
She will appear in court on Dec. 17.
