Man charged with theft of air-vending machines

A Watertown man faces charges in connection with the theft of coin-operated air vending machines from three different locations in DeKalb County. Alton David Estes, 46, was arrested on March 5 and charged with three counts of theft over $1,000.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Estes allegedly took coin-operated air vending machines by breaking the bolts that helds them on at the Shiney Rock Market on Highway 56 south on July 1, 2013, at  Liberty Citgo on Highway 70 and at Hillcrest Market and on Sept. 9. The machines were each valued at more than $1,000.
His bond was set at $50,000, and he will appear in court on March 13. The case was investigated by criminal detectives of the Sheriff's Department.
Meanwhile, 28-year-old Jonathon Daniel Nellums of Murfreesboro has been charged with theft of property over $60,000.
Ray said that from about Nov. 8 through Feb. 5, Nellums took approximately $105,000 from a woman’s money market account at Region's Bank in DeKalb County. The case was investigated by a criminal detective.
His bonds total $15,000, and he will appear in court on March 20.
