Smithville Police have made an arrest connected to several recent vehicle burglaries in the city.

According to Police Chief Mark Collins, Steven Tyler Wheeler, 18, was arrested on Nov. 18 and charged with three counts of burglary and vandalism. Officers had reportedly taken two reports on Walker Drive, where someone had entered vehicles and taken items without the owner's permission.

A report of someone breaking a window and possibly trying to hot wire a vehicle at Model City Auto Sales in an attempt to steal the automobile was also taken on Nov. 17. An investigation allegedly revealed that the three incidents were related, and that Wheeler was a suspect.

After questioning, Wheeler was charged and arrested without incident. His bond was set at $17,500.

Wheeler was then charged with another burglary and theft on Nov. 20. Police said an officer took a report on Nov. 18 in which a vehicle had been broken into on Walker Drive. Upon investigation, Wheeler was determined to have been involved in this incident in addition to the other break-ins on Walker Drive.

His bond on that charge was set at $4,500, and he will appear in court on Dec. 10.

Meanwhile, 34-year-old Christina Love Johnson was arrested on Nov. 17 for domestic assault.

Police dispatched to a residence to check out reports of an assault in progress spoke with the parties involved and found that they had gotten into a verbal argument that turned physical. Johnson allegedly hit and then bit the victim on the ear.

Her bond was set at $2,500, and she will appear in court on Dec. 10.

Joshua Jordan, 37, was arrested on Nov. 14 for possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, deliver or sell methamphetamine.

An officer responding to East Broad Street in reference to a suspicious person trying to stop traffic spoke to Jordan, who was reportedly incoherent in speech. Upon questioning Jordan, the officer determined that he may have smoked some marijuana and taken meth. Jordan had in his possession a small plastic container containing a white crystal like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

His bond was set at $40,000.

Neil Bernard Keenan, 59, was charged with public intoxication and cited for simple possession on Nov. 20.

Police reportedly received a call of a possible drunk driver who had crashed into a pole in the parking lot of Food Lion. The officer spoke with Keenan in a checkout line inside the store.

Keenan was allegedly unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had an odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person. Incident to arrest, a silver pill container with a Schedule IV substance was found in his front pants pocket.

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Dec. 17.
