Man earns 10-year term for child rape

A 19-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in jail for rape in DeKalb County Criminal Court Monday.Judge David Patterson presided.Keith Clifford Lafreniere, II was indicted last December on charges that he raped a 12-year-old girl.Lafreniere was accused of engaging in unlawful sexual activity with the 12-year-old on May 26, 2011, by the use of force or coercion, constituting the offense of rape.Lafreniere was sentenced to 10 years in jail, is to be registered as a sex offender, and will be under lifetime supervision.Mark Violet, 48, charged with two counts of theft over $1,000, was sentenced to two three-year suspended sentences on judicial diversion.Misty Barnes, 21, charged with initiation of a process to make meth, was given an eight-year sentence, suspended to supervised probation, and was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine. Aaron Ponder, 34, received a four-year sentence suspended to supervised probation for delivery of a Schedule II drug.He will be on community corrections supervised house arrest, and was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine plus court cost.Stephen K. Estes, 22, was given an 11-month, 29-day sentence, suspended on judicial diversion, for sale and delivery of a Schedule II drug.He must pay a $750 fine, make $80 restitution, and perform 50 hours of community service.Jacob T. Maynard, 22, received a three-year sentence on judicial diversion for delivery of a Schedule II drug, and was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.
