Man flees after high-speed crash
wreck
An accident involving this Dodge pickup, which was the only wreck reported in the county during Mondays snow, may not have been caused by weather conditions. Though a blanket of snow was falling at the time of the crash, the driver was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck another vehicle, left the roadway, and clipped a utility pole in half before coming to rest at the bottom of a ravine near Federal Mogul on Highway 56. Local residents were without electricity for a short time while power lines were repaired. No one involved in the collision was seriously injured. While an officer had reportedly witnessed the truck traveling out of town in excess of the speed limit, the driver crashed the truck and fled the scene on foot before any pursuit could be initiated.
