One man was injured in this three-car crash on Highway 70 in Dowelltown Tuesday morning. According to Trooper Bobby Johnson of the THP, This 2001 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by Jacob Lawrence, 25, crossed the center line while traveling east near the junction with Highway 96 just after 7 a.m. The Pontiac struck a Chevrolet Impala driven by Lori Anderson, 49, who was carrying two minor passengers, on the rear passenger side. Lawrence’s vehicle then made contact with a 2000 Silverado driven by 34-year-old Shane Steele of Sparta in the passenger side as well. Both Steele and Anderson were traveling west at the time. The trooper said Lawrence claimed to have gone to sleep while driving, and was issued a citation for failure to exercise due care. Lawrence was transported to Stones River DeKalb Hospital with minor injuries, and no one else was hurt in the incident. County firefighter Matt Boss is shown extricating Lawrence, who was trapped in his vehicle for a short time. Members of the sheriff’s department and the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
