The man who is believed to have drowned near the Floating Mill recreation area last week has been identified as 57-year-old Timothy Majors of Ashland City. An autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.
Majors was apparently boating with three other family members when he dove from a rented pontoon boat last Monday morning and did not resurface.
After a nearly four-hour search by members of the TWRA, Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers using sonar and underwater cameras, Majors’ body was located in about 25 feet of water, and was retrieved by a rescue squad diver.
