Judge Leon Burns Jr. sentenced a 25-year-old local man accused of having sexual contact with a 15-year-old-girl during the Jamboree last year in DeKalb County Criminal Court Monday.Bryan Cunningham received a two-year suspended sentence, and must register as a sex offender.According to city police, members of the department discovered Cunningham having sex with an underage girl while patrolling during the Jamboree on July 5.According to Lieutenant Matt Holmes of the Smithville Police Department, Cunningham was charged with with statutory rape after officers found him having sex with the 15-year-old girl on a dirt road at the bottom of Town Hill on Holmes Creek Road.Holmes told the Review that he and Sergeant Brad Tatrow were checking the area at the bottom of the hill, a known hangout by Fall Creek, when the illicit act was revealed.Cunningham was indicted on statutory rape charges by the grand jury in December.
