A 57-year-old Ashland City is believed to have drowned in Center Hill Lake Monday afternoon.
After a searching for the man for more than four hours, his body was pulled from the lake in about 25 feet of water near Floating Mill just after 3 p.m. by a Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad diver.
While the man’s name has not yet been released, an autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.
The man had apparently been boating with family members on a rented pontoon boat near the Floating Mill Camp ground at about 10 a.m. The victim reportedly jumped from the boat approximately 100 yards from shore and did not resurface.
Members of the TWRA, Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begin a search using sonar and underwater cameras. When the body was located, a diver from the Rescue Squad diver went down to retrieve it. DeKalb EMS and the sheriff’s department were also on the scene.
