The sheriff’s department has arrested two men from Murfreesboro on charges that they stole a box of firewood last week from a home on Old Casey Cove Road.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, John Robert Savko, 25, and Cory Nethaniel Nelson, 25, were charged with theft of property after a deputy responded to a residence on Casey Cove Road and Savko and Nelson allegedly admitted to having taken a wooden box full of firewood from the property. The box and wood was valued at $200.

Bond for both men was set at $1,500 and they will be in court on June 15.

Roxanna Landis, 33, was charged with public intoxication on May 26.

Ray said a deputy found Landis in the middle of the roadway on Midway Road. She was very unsteady on her feet, her speech was slurred, and her eyes were glazed. Landis allegedly told the officer that she had taken Subutex, Klonopin, and Neurontin earlier in the day.

Landis reportedly submitted to, but performed poorly on, all field sobriety tasks. Due to her level of intoxication Landis was taken into custody for her safety and that of the public.

Her bond is $1,500 and her court date is June 8.

Clarence Edward Sexton, 47, was charged with a second offense of driving on a revoked license and cited for running a stop sign on May 27.

The sheriff said a deputy saw a blue car run a stop sign at Duncan Street and West Broad Street in Smithville. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, Sexton. A check revealed that Sexton’s license had been revoked in Putnam County.

His bond is $2,000 and his court date is June 15.

Samuel Dylan Giles, 22, was charged with domestic assault on May 27.

Ray said a deputy responded to a residence on South Judkins Lane to investigate a physical domestic call. The officer spoke with a woman who said that she and Giles had gotten into an argument over his being loud. She was concerned that Giles might wake up her five week old baby.

The woman claims that Giles pushed her and then slapped her face. Marks were observed on the woman’s face and ear. Giles was determined to have been the primary aggressor and was placed under arrest.

His bond is $2,000 and his court date is June 15.

Nicholas Carter, 23, of Smyrna was charged with public intoxication on May 28.

The sheriff said a deputy was dispatched to Cove Hollow Road to check out reports of a man who was intoxicated. Upon arrival, the officer reportedly spoke with Carter, who was very belligerent. He allegedly had an odor of alcohol on him, and was unsteady on his feet. His eyes were glazed over and his speech was slurred. He was placed under arrest for his safety and that of the public.
