A man who walked through an order of protection shortly after making bond for hitting his wife now faces multiple charges that began with a domestic incident at the Liberty home.
The man, Howard Pyles, 52, is charged with domestic assault and violating an order of protection. He will be arraigned on the charges Aug. 9.
Deputies responded to the Pyles’ home to investigate a domestic situation. When they arrived they found Pyles’ wife suffering from an injury.
“She said he had stabbed her in the face with a tube of chalk,” said sheriff Patrick Ray, noting officers observed injuries to her face, backing up her story.
Pyles was arrested for domestic assault and taken to DeKalb County Jail. An order of protection was served on him while he was an inmate there, warning him to stay away from the victim in the case.
However, he failed to heed the court order when he made bond. He was found at the Liberty home at 2:47 a.m. by a deputy and arrested.
“He was forbidden from being at the residence,” the sheriff said, noting the order was read to him when it was served, making it obvious he was not to go to the residence under any circumstances.
Pyles was not the only one to walk through an order of protection, this one also caught in the act of being where he was not supposed to be.
Kevin Martrell Addison, 28, was arrested for two counts of aggravated assault and attempted aggravated burglary for an incident in the city. Police officers responded to a residence on Bell Street for a domestic situation. When they arrived they were told Addison had grabbed the victim by her hair and threw her on the floor then proceeded to strangle her. There were marks on the victim's neck and arm.    Shortly after the incident, police were again called to the residence on Bell Street as Addison was attempting to make entry. At the time of this incident warrants and an order of protection had been obtained for the earlier incident. When officers made contact with Addison he was found at the rear door of the residence attempting to gain entry. He was also found to be in possession of a .40 cal pistol, a loaded 10 round magazine, and a flat head screwdriver. He was taken into custody without incident.
