A local man named in a recent sealed indictment for possession of cocaine, Oxycodone and Hydrocodone has been arrested by the sheriff’s department.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Phillip Edward Miranda, 38, was served on Aug. 17. He is accused of three counts of simple possession of a Schedule II drug (cocaine, 4.5 Oxycodone tablets, and 1 Hydrocodone tablet).
His bond was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on Sept. 12.
Meanwhile, 49-year-old William Hardie Morris was charged with resisting arrest on Aug. 15.
The sheriff said a deputy was dispatched to Morris’ residence to serve arrest warrants for driving under the influence and driving on a suspended or revoked license on him. While the officer was attempting to search Morris, the man allegedly removed a pill from a container in his pocket and placed it in his mouth, then began to pull away from the deputy and fight with him.
After telling him several times to spit the pill out and stop fighting, Morris reportedly did so, and was taken arrested.
His bonds total $11,000 and he will appear in court on Sept. 29.
James Paris Goff of Baxter, 19, was charged with assaulting another inmate at the county jail on Aug 18. Ray said on Thursday, August 18 a correctional officer witnessed Goff on video surveillance hit another inmate about his face and body.
The other inmate suffered what is believed to be a broken nose.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Sept. 1.
Andrew Douglas Jackson, 35, was charged with criminal impersonation on Aug. 27.
The sheriff said a deputy stopped a Ford SUV with an inoperable headlight and spoke to the driver, who allegedly identified himself as Terry Jackson and gave a date of birth of December 31, 1980. An investigation apparently revealed that the man’s name is Andrew Douglas Jackson, and his DOB is November 6, 1980.
His bond was set at $2,000, and he will appear in court on Sept. 15.
Randy Allen Maddux, 36, of Sparta is charged with failure to appear.
Ray said that Maddux was served criminal summons for criminal trespassing and theft of property under $50 at the White County Sheriff’s Department in early August. He had ten days to be booked into the DeKalb County Jail, but failed to do so.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Sept. 1.
Loretta Lynn Morgan, 52, was charged with domestic assault on Aug. 24.
The sheriff said a deputy was dispatched to a Malone Hollow Road home to check out a domestic assault complaint. The officer determined that Morgan assaulted her roommate by hitting him in the side of the head with a closed fist, and she was placed under arrest.
Her bond was set at $1,500, and she will appear in court on Nov. 17.
Stephanee Joyce Wright, 29, was charged with domestic assault on Aug. 23.
Ray said Wright assaulted her boyfriend at their residence on Ponder Lane in Smithville. Both parties allegedly admitted to the altercation having been physical in nature. Physical marks were apparent on both parties. An investigation reportedly determined that Wright was the primary aggressor.
Her bond was set at $2,500.
Randall Tittle, 39, was cited for driving on roadways laned for travel and simple possession of a Schedule VI drug on Aug. 10.
Ray said a deputy stopped Tittle’s vehicle for failure to maintain lane of travel. Upon a consent to search, a bag of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana was found on Tittle. It weighed .23 ounces.
He will appear in court on Sept. 15.
Jacob Lee Tramel, 33, was cited for driving on a suspended license, no insurance, and failure to maintain lane of travel on Aug. 23.
The sheriff said a deputy stopped a blue SUV after observing the vehicle leaving its lane of travel several times. Tramel was found to be the driver, and a computer check revealed that his license was suspended for failure to show proof of insurance in October 2012. A warrants check reportedly revealed that Tramel was also wanted in a local case for theft of property over $500.
He will appear in court on Sept. 8.
B.J. Lee Brown, 37, was cited for driving on a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia on Aug. 12.
Ray said a detective saw Brown operating a motor vehicle and made a traffic stop knowing that Brown did not have a valid driver license. A computer check confirmed that Brown’s license was suspended in April, 2011 for failure to provide proof of insurance. The detective conducted a search and found a pill grinder and a straw.
He will appear in court on Sept. 15.
