The sheriff’s department took a Potts Camp Road man into custody for fleeing the law in Missouri last week.

George William Rogers II, 35, was arrested for being a fugitive from justice on Feb. 28. According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Rogers had a warrant against him for violation of probation in the other state, and Missouri authorities have said that they will extradite him. He will remain in jail in DeKalb County until his court date.

His bond was set at $25,000, and he will appear in court on March 5.

Meanwhile, James Bertland Blankenship, III, 49, of McMinnville was arrested for simple possession of a Schedule II drug (Dilaudid) on Feb. 26.

Ray said a sheriff’s department detective went to Banks Pisgah Road to serve a warrant, and made contact with Blankenship. Blankenship reportedly gave consent to search his person and vehicle, and the detective found three hypodermic needles and a small plastic baggie containing three-and one-half Dilaudid pills in Blankenship’s pants pockets.

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on March 5.

In the same incident, the same detective cited Jefry Vincent Overall, 44, of McMinnville for simple possession of a Schedule II drug (Morphine). The sheriff said Overall was inside the vehicle while it was being searched, and a pill bottle with Overall’s name on the label containing one 15 mg. Morphine pill and two 30 mg. Oxycodone pills was found. He reportedly could not produce a prescription that matched those pills.

Overall will appear in court on March 5.

Paul Jerome Grizzle, 48, of Liberty was arrested for domestic assault on Feb 24.

A deputy dispatched to investigate a report of domestic assault on Short Mountain Highway spoke with a woman who told him that Grizzle, her boyfriend, was intoxicated and had been violent. According to the sheriff, the woman said that Grizzle had pushed her over a living room chair, pushed her into the railing of the porch, and pushed her into the corner of a building while she was trying to get help.

She allegedly told the officer that she was terrified that if he left Grizzle would beat her again, and would not stop. Grizzle was determined to be the primary aggressor, and was arrested.

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Feb. 26.

Daniel Ray Anderson, 55, was arrested on Feb. 23 and charged with two counts of driving on suspended license (fourth offense).

According to sheriff, Anderson was seen operating a vehicle by a deputy who had prior knowledge of warrants against him. Anderson was stopped, and a check revealed that his license was suspended. Ray said Anderson had previous charges on Aug. 30, 2011, June 22, 2009, and Nov. 26, 2006.

The first count stems from May 5 of last year, when a deputy was dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Blue Springs Road. Upon arrival the officer made contact with Anderson and ran his license, finding them to be suspended out of Putnam County for failure to satisfy a citation in 2001.

Before the deputy was able to take Anderson into custody, he reportedly fled the scene.

He was also cited for lack of registration, a seatbelt violation, and proof of insurance.

His bonds total $12,500, and he will appear in court on March 12.

Bobby Dean Porterfield, 47, of Murfreesboro was arrested on Feb. 23 for his fourth offense of driving on a revoked license.

Porterfield was stopped by a deputy for a faulty taillight, and after speaking to him, he allegedly admitted that he did not have a valid license. Ray said a check revealed that Porterfield had at least three previous charges of driving on a revoked license. He was also cited for lack of insurance and violation of the light law.

His bond was set at $6,000 and he will appear in court on March 12.

McKay Lindon Gray, 20, was arrested for his second offense of driving on a revoked license on Feb. 26.

A deputy with prior knowledge of Gray’s license being revoked allegedly saw him operating a vehicle. The officer stopped the vehicle, and a check reportedly revealed that Gray’s license was revoked for a 2013 DUI. The sheriff said Gray was also cited for the same charge in Jan. 2013.

His bond was set at $3,000, and he will appear in court on April 16.

Travis Joe Davenport, 23, was arrested on Feb. 23 for driving on a revoked license.

The sheriff said a deputy patrolling Highway 56 South stopped Davenport’s vehicle for a traffic violation. Davenport allegedly admitted that he did not have a valid driver’s license. A check revealed that his license was revoked in April 2014 for failure to satisfy fine cost taxes on a Warren County criminal offense. He was also cited for an inoperable brake light.

His bond was set at $500, and he will appear in court on May 21.
