The theft of a money bag from a local business is under investigation by the Smithville Police Department. According to Police Chief Mark Collins, a customer went behind the counter at El Mariachi on West Broad Street around 2 p.m. Monday while they clerk was in the back of the building. The thief reportedly absconded with a bag containing some checks and an undisclosed amount of cash.
