A jury of four men and eight women found a local man on trial for rape of a child guilty of the lesser offense of aggravated sexual battery last week.Kenneth Lee Moore, 44, is facing a possible prison term of eight-12 years for the crime.He will be sentenced on May 17.The jury deliberated for more than four hours before returning the aggravated sexual battery verdict.Judge Leon Burns, Jr. presided over the trial.Moore was accused of raping his 12-year-old niece on Nov. 15, 2010.Moore is accused of having oral sex with the girl while she was living in his home.Authorities said that the girl and her mother moved in with Moore after falling on hard times.The girl allegedly awoke one night to find Moore making sexual contact with her.Three witnesses, including the victim, her mother and Detective Mike Billings of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department, testified for the prosecution during the trial Wednesday.The defense called only one witness, a juvenile relative of the victim.
