A total of 426 voters have taken the opportunity to cast their ballots early as of Monday.

 

Daily totals for the first five days of early voting in DeKalb County are:

 

Wednesday, Oct. 15: 85 in person, 16 absentee, 101 total.

 

Thursday, Oct. 16: 82 in person, two absentee, 84 total.

 

Friday, Oct. 17: 77 in person, one absentee, 78 total.

 

Saturday, Oct. 18: 62 in person

 

Monday, Oct. 20: 98 in person, 3 absentee, 101 total

 

Early voting will continue through Oct. 30 on the first floor of the courthouse. Voting will be held on the following days at the following times:

 

Mondays 1-5 p.m.

 

Tuesdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

 

Wednesdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

 

Thursdays 2-6 p.m.

 

Fridays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

 

Saturdays 9 a.m.-Noon.

 

Voters statewide will cast ballots for governor, U.S. senators, U.S. congressmen, state representatives and state senators, and will be offered choices on four controversial state constitutional amendments.

 

Residents of the City of Smithville will decide referendums on both a liquor by the drink and liquor stores in the city limits.

 

The Consumption on the Premises Referendum will require a vote "for legal sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises in Smithville" or "against legal sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises in Smithville."

 

If approved, the referendum would allow restaurants in the city that meet qualifications to apply to the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission for a license to sell liquor by the drink., the Smithville Beer Board, however would still be responsible for granting permits for the businesses to sell beer.

 

The Retail Package Store Referendum will require a vote "To permit retail package stores to sell beverages in Smithville" or "not to permit retail package stores to sell alcoholic beverages in Smithville".

 

Election day is Tuesday, November 4.
