The sheriff’s department has arrested a local man and charged him aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened his wife with a knife on two separate occasions.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Steven Anthony Nelson, 38, of Smithville was taken into custody after his wife called 911 and reported that she feared for her safety. Nelson allegedly held a knife on the woman and told her that he would kill her if she made a sound when the deputy arrived.
Ray said the victim reported a similar incident on Sept. 19. According to a detective, the woman said that she and Nelson were arguing, and that he grabbed and threw her to the ground.
Nelson allegedly hit the woman several times while she was on the ground, tried to strangle her, and then threatened her with a knife. After the assault, the victim reportedly went to Mapco Express and got help. Both cases were investigated by sheriff's department detectives.
His bond was set at $100,000, and he will appear in court on Jan. 28.
Meanwhile, Ginger Elaine Moore, 41, was charged with aggravated assault on Jan. 16.
Ray said that Moore pointed a .22 caliber handgun at her son and threatened to kill him.
Her bond was set at $5,000, and she will appear in court on Feb. 4.
Stephanie Michelle Mooneyham, 24, was charged with domestic assault on Jan. 17.
According to the sheriff, Mooneyham assaulted her mother by pulling her hair and hitting her in the side of the head.
Her bond was set at $1,500.
Julie Wright, 38, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on Dec. 14.
The sheriff said a sheriff's department detective was at Wright's home assisting officers of the Tennessee Department of Corrections Probation and Parole with a home search. During the search, several guns were found.
Wright reportedly has a November, 2015 conviction against her for sale and delivery of a Schedule III drug.
Her bond was set at $3,500, and she appear in court on Jan. 21.
Crystal Alice Turner, 40, has been charged with a General Sessions Court violation of probation and theft of property over $1,000.
Ray said Turner took jewelry from her mother without consent on September 20, 2013, and was involved in pawning the jewelry at Insta-Cash in Smithville and Cash 4-U Pawn in McMinnville.
The case was investigated by a sheriff's department detective.
Her bond was set at $5,000 on the theft charge and $250 for the Violation of probation.
Christopher Neil Patterson, 46, was charged with violation of bond conditions on Jan. 14.
The sheriff said that Patterson violated his bond conditions by going to his wife's home on Big Hickory Court to talk with her. According to the bond conditions, Patterson is not permitted to have any contact with, or be near, his wife.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on Jan. 21.
Enrique Adelaido Lomas was charged with vandalism on Jan. 12.
Ray said that while he was a prisoner at the jail, Lomas cut holes in two separate vinyl pillows belonging to the sheriff's department. The total value of the pillows was $24.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Jan. 21.
