Two people were charged with promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine after sheriff’s department detectives found items used to make meth in the trunk of their car.

Shannon Lynn Newby, 50, and 25-year-old Jessica Lauren Shaffer were charged with promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine, and Newby was cited for simple possession of a Schedule II drug (morphine and methamphetamine) and for simple possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana). Shaffer was cited for simple possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana) and a Schedule II drug (methamphetamine).

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, two detectives conducting a probation search of Newby and Shaffer found two-18 ounce cans of Crystal Drano, one bottle of brake fluid, one gallon of Coleman camp fuel, four ice compress cold packs, 30 hypodermic needles, and a blue funnel in the trunk of Newby’s car. All these items are known to be ingredients to produce methamphetamine.

Detectives allegedly found.04 grams of methamphetamine, five-60 milligram morphine pills, and .3 grams of marijuana in Newby’s possession. A marijuana cigarette believed to be Schaffer’s was reportedly found in the floor board of the car, and inside her cigarette pack was .1 gram of ice (methamphetamine).

Bond for both was set at $25,000, and they will appear in court on July 14.

Meanwhile, Mark Allen Thomas, 48, of Woodbury was charged with aggravated assault and failure to appear on Feb. 25.

Ray said Thomas assaulted his sister by hitting her in the face with the handle of a hammer, causing redness around the left eye and cheek.

Redmon was allegedly observed by video surveillance climbing onto a sink and door inside his jail cell and hitting the camera with his fist, causing damage to the camera, on July 1. Then, on July 3, Redmon was allegedly observed in the jail’s day use area cell, hitting another camera with a broom causing damage to that camera.

His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on July 21.

While enroute, the officer spotted the car traveling south on Dale Ridge Road. The deputy turned around and caught up with the car, which had he found sitting on Dale Ridge Road.

The cars amber parking lights were on, and Summers was allegedly sitting in the driver side seat. Summers’ eyes were reportedly bloodshot, he was unsteady on his feet, and his speech was slurred. Summers also was very belligerent, and he refused to submit to field sobriety tasks.

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will make a court appearance on July 21.

Kijanski was reportedly found in the vehicle with a strong odor of alcohol on his person.

He submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks. His eyes were reportedly bloodshot, and he was unsteady on his feet. Kijanski admitted to having consumed alcohol earlier in the evening.
