After impact the truck went off the left side of the highway, into a ditch and through a fence. The truck overturned but came to rest on its wheels off the roadway. Winne’s truck carried Eli Porterfield, 19, of Dowelltown and two juveniles. While 48-year-old Brenda Smart of Smithville, 31-year-old Trisha Peachey of Liberty, and two juveniles were passengers in Smart’s car. All involved parties except Porterfield, who was apparently not injured, were transported to the hospital by DeKalb EMS. Winne was charged with driving under the influence, and the trooper said other charges are pending.
