Barack Obama slid by Republican challenger Mitt Romney in the election for president Tuesday.Obama took 59,725,608 votes with 50 percent of the total vote to win with 303 electoral votes, as counted at press time.Romney earned 57,098,650 votes, giving him 48 percent of the total vote, and 206 electoral votes.Republicans retained control of the house of Representatives, 232 seats to 191.Democrats, however, remain in control of the Senate, 51 seats to 45.
