Omega Apparel Incorporated, a local business which employs more than 200 people making uniforms for the military, has changed hands.The business was recently acquired by Brentwood resident Dean Wegner, a 1993 graduate of West Point and a seven-year Army helicopter pilot and Army Ranger veteran.Omega is a leading producer of uniforms for the Department of Defense, and specializes in making dress pants and skirts for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines.Wegner comes from Mars Inc., where he was a business development executive.Russ Brue, a former finance manager with Mars Petcare, will join as the new CFO. Wegner will take over from former owners Richard Chase and Brian Roberge, who have been in the apparel industry for more than 45 years.The duo owned Omega Apparel for 18 years, and will remain on Omega’s Advisory Board of Directors for three years to provide strategic guidance and maintain the company’s reputation for quality and customer service.Wegner told the Review that he is coming into the business with growth in mind, and his goal is job creation. “Obviously there is much to learn, but the business is in a great position,” Wegner said. “I have the utmost respect for Brian and Richard.
