The DUI charge against Smithville Building Inspector Eugene O'Neil, filed in March, has been dropped.O'Neil appeared in General Sessions Court last week, where the charges were dismissed. The case was heard by Judge Tiffany Gipson of Jackson County, who was named to handle the case because Judge Bratten Cook, II had a conflict because of his association with the city.O’Neil’s attorney Tony Hagan, in a prepared statement, wrote; "In March 2013, Smithville Building Inspector Eugene O'Neil was charged with DUI and other related charges. Today, the State of Tennessee dismissed all charges against Mr. O'Neil.
