Owens charged with stealing purse

Terry Wayne Owens, 62, was cited for theft on Oct. 3. According to Smithville Police, Owens was seen on Wal-Mart's surveillance video taking a purse belonging to a victim out of a shopping cart without permission, and putting it in his vehicle.  He will appear in court on Nov. 11.

 

Meanwhile, Lou Ann Sanders, 48, was arrested for DUI first offense and cited for failure to carry a driver's license and an open container on Oct. 8. 

 

Sanders was involved in a motor vehicle crash, and upon making contact with her, the officer immediately smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. Upon exiting the vehicle, Sanders had the smell of an alcoholic beverage on her person, and was allegedly unsteady on her feet. 

 

Sanders was asked, and consented to, field sobriety tasks, which she performed poorly. She was taken into custody without incident. 

 

Her bond was set at $1,500, and she will appear in court on Oct. 27.

 

Charlotte Marie Hill, 42, was cited for criminal impersonation on Oct 11. 

 

Police were attempting to serve a warrant for failure to appear on Hill.  Contact was made with a female subject who informed officers that her name was Marie Floyd.  It was later found that she was actually Hill, and she was transported to Rutherford County on the warrant. 

 

She will appear in court on Oct. 27.

 

Travis Allen Bogle, 27, was arrested for DUI first and cited for improper passing and light law on Oct 12.

 

Police reportedly initiated a traffic stop at the Marathon gas station and identified the driver as Bogle.  The officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Bogle's breathe, and observed him to be unsteady on his feet.  Bogle was asked and consented to perform standardized field sobriety tasks, which he performed poorly.  

 

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Oct. 27.
