On Wednesday, Sept. 13, Stephen Anthony Patterson, 39, was arrested for DUI second offense, methamphetamine possession, and cited for simple possession.
Smithville police responded to Larry’s Discount for a male subject passed out behind the steering wheel. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the male subject found to be Patterson, passed out with the vehicle running.
Upon waking Patterson, the officer noticed an unknown object in his hand that he would not release. The officer assisted Patterson out of the vehicle and removed the object from his hand due to officer’s safety and upon speaking with Patterson, it was discovered that it contained 25 pills identified as Alprazolam, a small bag of a white crystal substance and a small white solid substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Patterson had blood-shot eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet. Patterson was asked and consented to field sobriety tasks on which he performed poorly, at which time he was taken into custody for DUI second and possession of methamphetamine. His bond was set at $8,500 and he will appear in General Sessions Court Oct. 5.
