A local man was killed Friday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Rutherford County. The man, William Sterling (Bill) Popejoy, 55, died as result of injuries he sustained in a wreck in Lascassas at the intersection of Highway 96 and Highway 266. According to highway patrol reports, Popejoy’s motorcycle struck two separate vehicles, the chain reaction beginning when he collided with a vehicle that was stopped in the westbound lane.
