Relay for Life coming Friday

The 19th annual Relay for Life, with a “Paint Your World Purple” theme for 2016, will be held Friday, May 6 at Greenbrook Park in Smithville. The event is intended to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society.

 

Entertainment will begin at 5:15 p.m., and the opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Cancer survivors will be given a chance to speak, and those who have survived the disease will take part in a “Survivor’s Lap.” A Luminaria Ceremony is set for 9 p.m. to remember those lost to cancer and to honor those who have battled the disease.
