Work is progressing on the Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad’s new building. The squad will hold a fundraiser dinner and auction  Saturday to help finish the structure.
The event will take place at the Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad Building at 115 Summer Street (beside Greenbrook Park and NHC). Food will be served at 4 p.m., and the auction will follow. Hamburgers/hot dogs, baked beans, chips, drinks, and desserts will be served for $7.00 a plate.
Several auction items have been donated by local businesses and individuals, and a $500.00 cash prize will be given away.
Among the auction items are a t-shirt, CD and picture from Aaron Tippin, airplane rides, a load of gravel from Rogers Group, a jack and jack stands from Advance Auto Parts, trees from local nurseries, and toys from Ditch Witch.
Tickets for the cash drawing are $5 each or 3 for $10.
