A local man was airlifted last week after the Jeep Cherokee he was driving plowed through a fence and swimming-pool deck. The accident occurred near the intersection of Cooper Avenue Thursday morning. According to the Smithville Police Department, Danny Rigsby, 66, was traveling west when the Jeep left the street, struck a utility-pole guide wire, and ran through a chain-link fence, deck and wooden fence around a pool behind a home there.
