The Board of Education will meet in a special session at 7 p.m. on July 16 in hopes of naming a new director of schools.
Board members discussed procedures for the selection of a new director during a workshop last week, and will hold another workshop on July 9 at 5:30 p.m. before their regular monthly meeting, at 7 p.m. They plan to decide the length of the contract offered, among other terms, and decide on a starting salary. Many members feel that the director should be paid around $85,000 per year, an almost $20,000 cut from the previous director’s pay.
The board will also seek input from school faculty and staff, as well as the public, on questions to ask of the three finalists for the job during a workshop on July 14. All three applicants are to be interviewed individually in onehour sessions starting at 5 p.m.
The three finalists are DCHS Principal Patrick Cripps, Supervisor of Special Education Gina Arnold , and Executive Principal for Statford STEM High School Michael James Steele from Spring Hill.
