School Board Meeting Audio 12-8
In a brief assembly that lasted less than eight minutes, the DeKalb County Board of Education met for its regular monthly session Thursday night.
A measure was approved to set the percentage of DCHS student’s End of Course exams that will count toward their final grades in 2018-19. Results of End of Course testing, part of the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) for high school students, factors into their final semester grades. Local school boards have some freedom to set the percentage.
“2016-17 End of Course will count 10 percent of the student’s average,” Director of Schools Patrick Cripps told the board. “2017-18 it will be 15 percent of the student’s average. We have a range of 15-25 percent for 2018-19. That is something the board will have to approve. I recommend 15 percent be counted as the average in their End of Course exam for 2018-19.”
Board members voted to approve the proposal.
The board granted DeKalb Middle School students permission to begin raising funds to travel to the National Jr. Beta Convention.
Cripps also gave his monthly personnel report. Four employees have been granted a leave of absence as requested: Robbie Frasier, Sara Halliburton, Karen Jacobs, and Sara Young.
