OWENS

A Smithville man received a three-year sentence in DeKalb County Criminal Court last week after pleading guilty to charges of theft of property over $1,000 and two counts of aggravated burglary.
Tyrone D. Owens, 35, was given a three-year sentence in each case, all suspended to TDOC probation, except the first year, which is to be supervised by community corrections.
Two of the sentences are to run consecutively for a total of six years.
He must also make restitution in an amount to be determined at a later date.
Owens’ sentence is to run concurrently with other sentences against him, including a case in Warren County.
Owens must serve at least thirty percent of the sentence before he is eligible for release.
Meanwhile, Steve Allen Hale, 39, pleaded guilty to simple possession, as well as a second offense of driving under the influence.
Owens received a sentence of 11 months, 29 days on both charges, all suspended to CPS probation except for 49 days to serve.
The two sentences are to run consecutively.
Hale must pay $610 in fines, and will lose his license for not less than two years.
He was given jail credit of 49 days served.
James Adamson, 51, pled guilty to aggravated assault and violation of the habitual motor vehicle offender law, and now must serve at least thirty percent of a four-year sentence before he is eligible for release in the aggravated assault case.
He was given a two-year sentence on the habitual offender charge.
The two sentences are to run concurrently, and Adamson is to make restitution in an amount to be determined later.
He was given credit for time served from Jan. 24 to May 24.
Carlos Lynn Godsey pled guilty to abuse of a child under the age of six.
He received a four-year sentence in the community corrections program, to run concurrently with his parole in a federal sentence.
Both Godsey and his girlfriend Lois Nicole Cobble were charged in the case.
Cobble was charged with child abuse and neglect.
She appeared in criminal court in October and was granted judicial diversion probation for two years.
