Smithville Elementary School students honored DeKalb county’s war heroes at the school’s annual Veteran’s Appreciation program Friday.
Students led by Kelly Birmingham performed "God Bless the USA," as well as the hymns of the four branches of the military. Adrienne McCormick read a poem “Veteran’s Day” by Cheryl Dyson:

Veterans Day is Nov. 11. A program will be begin at the DeKalb County Complex Auditorium at 9 a.m. Lunch for veterans and their families will be sponsored by the Senior Citizens and Director Pam Redmon, and Woodsmen of the World Director Regina Wilhite.
The program is sponsored by American Legion Post 122 and Ladies Auxiliary. Transportation for Veterans to Memorial Site compliments of DeKalb County School Board and the school bus garage.
