According to city police, seven of 12 people named in sealed indictments as a result of a year-long undercover drug investigation by the Smithville Police Department have been served.
The operation, conducted by Lieutenant Matt Holmes and Detective Brandon Donnell, involved drug buys made by confidential sources.
K-9 Officer James Cornelius and Sergeant Brad Tatrow assisted in some of the cases.
Among those already arrested are Donald (D.J.) Perry, Jr., who was indicted for sale and delivery of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) in a drug-free zone.
According to the indictment, Perry sold marijuana to a confidential source from his home, which is “within 1,000 feet of the real property that comprises a public or private elementary school, middle school, secondary school, preschool, childcare agency, or public library, recreational center, or park,” on Feb. 26.
Althea Bailey, 59, was indicted for sale and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone) in a drug-free zone.
According to the indictment, Bailey allegedly sold four Oxycodone pills to a police source from a parking lot that was “within 1,000 feet of the real property that comprises a public or private elementary school, middle school, secondary school, preschool, childcare agency, or public library, recreational center, or park” on July 26, 2012.
Vickie Cantrell was indicted for sale and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (Dilaudid).
The indictment alleges that Cantrell sold two Dilaudid pills to a confidential source from the parking lot of a local business on Dec. 5, 2012.
Kenny Herman, 52, was indicted for two counts of sale and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (Methadone) on Aug. 6, and again on Aug. 7, 2012.
According to the indictment, Herman allegedly sold four methadone pills to a confidential source from his home on Aug. 6, and three pills on Aug. 7.
Melisha (Buttons) Cantrell, 40, was indicted for sale and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (Dilaudid) on Dec. 6, 2012.
The indictment alleges that Cantrell sold two Dilaudid pills to a confidential source from a parking lot.
Danny Reeder, 60, was indicted for sale and delivery of a Schedule IV drug (Lorazepam) on Aug. 6, 2012.
The indictment alleges that Reeder sold 10 pills to a confidential source from the parking lot of a local business.
William Cory Dickens, 28, was indicted for sale and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (Dilaudid) on Dec. 13, 2012.
The indictment alleges that Dickens sold two Dilaudid pills to a confidential source from the parking lot of a local business.
The identities of the remaining five indicted will be released after they have been served by authorities.
