A drunk driver who tried to pass himself off as a witness to his own crash has been charged with making a false report to officers.
The driver, Charles Riedley, 30, was charged with DUI and filing a false report for an incident that happened on Nashville Highway in front of Twisted Oaks Saloon.
According to the sheriff’s report, when deputies arrived they found Riedley standing near the wrecked BMW and questioned him.
“He did make a false statement to officers by saying he witnessed the crash while standing on the front porch, smoking a vape,” revealed Sheriff Patrick Ray of the driver’s false claim.
Deputies were able to establish Riedley was lying to them. They also noticed a strong odor of alcohol about his person and that he was argumentative. He was arrested on the spot.

Ricky S. Nokes, 45, of Liberty was charged with driving on a revoked license after deputies found him passed out in his truck on a roadway.
Wayne Allen Stock, 46, was charged with driving on a revoked after a deputy saw him pulling out of a market onto Highway 70. The deputy knew he did not have a license due to a prior DUI and pulled him over.
