Six 5th District hopefuls have applied to fill the remainder of former county commissioner John Green’s term.
Green resigned from the commission  in April, citing the move of his permanent residence to White County as the reason.
James Young, Anita Puckett, Hunter Hendrixson, Steven Cantrell, Eugene LaFever and Rick Cantrell have all submitted applications for the position.
The applicants will be interviewed by county commissioners, who will choose one person to complete Green's term, which expires on Aug. 31, 2014.
The county recently advertised for applicants from 5th District residents to fill the remainder of the term.
The deadline for submitting applications was May 28.
Green, who was elected to the office  in 2002, 2006 and 2010, served on the county commission for 11 years.
