A 34-year old local man’s habit of skipping court landed him in jail without bond when a sheriff’s department drug detective pulled him over last week.James Fredrick Summers was arrested for driving on a revoked license on Oct. 10, and a check revealed that not only had he been convicted of the same charge three times previously, there were two warrants for failure to appear in court waiting for him as well.According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Summers was nabbed for driving on a revoked license in 2009 in Warren County and twice in DeKalb on consecutive days in 2006, Feb. 16 and 17.The sheriff said Summers also faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.The detective reportedly found Summers to be in possession of a .44 Magnum handgun and four rounds of ammunition.His bond on the weapon and driving on a revoked license charges is set at $15,000, and he will appear in court on those charges on Oct. 25.One capias for failure to appear came with a $1,000 bond, and also netted Summers an Oct. 15 court dateThe other failure to appear charge, from criminal court, resulted in his being ordered to be held without bond until he appears before the judge on Nov. 11.Meanwhile, four men were arrested by the sheriff’s department last week on charges of burglary and theft.Ray said that 34-year-old Joel Thomas Hayes and 28-year-old Ryan Lee Walden, both of Dowelltown, were charged with burglary and theft of property over $1,000 on Oct. 12.Hayes and Walden allegedly broke into an outbuilding on Dale Ridge Road on Oct. 4, gaining entry by by cutting a lock off the front door.The pair reportedly took a welding tank and cart, a chainsaw, a tackle box, a water tank, a battery charger, windows, and several other items with a total value of more than $1,000.The case was investigated by criminal detectives of the sheriff's department.Bond for each man is set at $10,000, and they will appear in court on Oct. 25.Then, on Oct. 12, 35-year-old Daniel Ray Page of Rock Island was charged with theft of property under $500 in connection with an Oct. 5 burglary on the Cookeville Highway.Ray said that Page stole a file box and a freezer, valued at less than $500, and sold the items to a recycling center.His bond is set at $2,500, and he will be in court Oct. 25.David Tyler Hutchins, 18, of Liberty was charged with burglary and theft of property over $1,000 in connection with an Oct. 12, burglary on Green Hill Road.Hutchins allegedly broke into an outbuilding by kicking in the front door, stealing a chainsaw, leaf blower, a cordless screw driver set, battery charger, and other items, including a 1997 Honda ATV, all valued at over $1,000.His bond is set at $10,000, and he will be in court on Nov. 29.
