According to officials from Massman Construction, the firm in charge of the construction of the new Sligo Bridge, the structure is expected to be complete by the end of this year.

"We anticipate having traffic on the new bridge in August, and expect completion of the project by the end of the year." said T.J. Colombatto, project manager for Massman Construction.

Barring any delays in construction, the nearly $39 million project, which began in May 2013, will be finished six months ahead of the June 2016 deadline.

Colombatto also said the parking lot at Sligo Marina has been repaved, and that the dock will be open and prepared for summer traffic.

"Sligo Marina has been cordial enough to work with us and allow us to use their parking lot during construction, and in return we helped them upgrade their parking lot." He shared. "We paved it for them, and restriped it. We tried to help them improve their facility so they can get back to business."
