A 36-year-old man who allegedly fired shots at a police vehicle in December has been taken into custody.
Kevin Glenn Smith of Beech Grove, Tennessee was arrested on Wednesday, May 14 charged with two counts of reckless endangerment and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
Smith reportedly led authorities on a pursuit across several counties after detectives attempting to serve a failure to appear warrant on 26-year-old Lydia Renee Judkins, Smith’s girlfriend, at a Pea Ridge Road home encountered Smith at the scene.
Smith, driving a blue Nissan Pathfinder, reportedly started the engine and sped away, almost hitting the detectives. He allegedly fled down a logging road that officers could not navigate in their patrol cars, and eluded them.
An overturned Pathfinder believed to be the one Smith was driving was found a couple of hours later, abandoned on Alexandria to Dismal Road. The Pathfinder was allegedly stolen from another county, and the license plate on the vehicle was stolen from a different county.
After finding the Pathfinder, local authorities called other law enforcement agencies in to help search for Smith.
“After the vehicle was found I alerted the Putnam County's K-9 unit and they came over with their track dog,” Sheriff Patrick Ray said. “I also called for a THP helicopter to fly over with their Fleer system, which is a heat sensing device.
“Information was received that Smith had already been picked up and taken to a residence in the city limits of Dowelltown. We left the scene on the Alexandria to Dismal Road where the Pathfinder was found and went to Dowelltown, where we learned that somebody had taken Smith from there to meet someone around Statesville Road off Highway 96 in Wilson County. We got Wilson County officers to go with us over there to do some saturated patrols to see if we could find this vehicle but we never could locate it,” the sheriff shared.
 Just before daybreak Tuesday morning, Ray said sheriff's department detectives spotted a suspicious pickup truck in Dowelltown, and when they tried to stop the vehicle to investigate, the driver attempted to flee.
“As we were on our way back, detectives saw a white Toyota Tacoma that was suspicious coming out of Dowelltown,” Ray said. “There were two people in the truck, and we believe Kevin Smith was one of the persons in that vehicle.”
The truck was pursued from Highway 70 to Highway 53 in Liberty, then to Sycamore Road, Hawkins Hill Road, Highway 96, Statesville Road and then onto several backroads. One of the occupants of the fleeing truck reportedly fired a weapon several times at the lead patrol car.
Ray said the detectives did not return fire, and backed off for the safety of the officers and the public. The driver also eluded Wilson County Sheriff's Department and Watertown Police Department officers.
The Toyota truck was believed to have been stolen as well, and the sheriff said its plate on it was nicked in Wilson County three days before the incident.
Ray said Smith has a criminal history of drug offenses, burglaries, thefts, and an escape. He and had warrants against him in Warren, Coffee, and Cannon counties. He has been in custody in another jurisdictionfor the past few months.
His bond was set at $15,000.
Meanwhile, Joseph Scott Parsley, 44, was charged with domestic assaulton May 5.
 The sheriff said a deputy dispatched to check out a reported domestic assault in progress at a Cookeville Highway home spoke with Parsley and his wife and son. The woman reportedly said that a pot of soup on the stove was on fire when she arrived home, and Parsley was in another room asleep.
Ray said she woke Parsley and realized he was intoxicated, and while trying to speak with him, he allegedly chest bumped her and pressed her up against a kitchen counter.
Their son, 16, reportedly tried to stop the argument and Parsley hit him in the face. According to the sheriff, the son had a swollen right cheek, and the wife had a swollen lip from the altercation. Parsley was determined to have been the primary aggressor and he was placed under arrest for domestic assault.
His bond was set at $2,500.
Carlos Soledad Perez, 23, was charged with a second offense of driving under the influence and driving while his license were suspended or revoked on May 10.
He was also cited for failing to give immediate notice of an accident, violation of the open container law, no insurance, violation of the implied consent law, and failure to drive in the right lane of travel.
Ray said a deputy was dispatched to Jacobs Pillar Road to investigate a report of a one-car accident involving a green Ford Mustang. The officer spotted the car without a front bumper traveling north.
At one point, the car crossed into the deputy's lane of travel, and the officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who was found to be Perez. He allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his person, and his eyes were glazed over.
The sheriff said Perez submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks, and refused to submit to a blood test. He was arrested for DUI and a search warrant was executed to obtain a blood draw due to him having a prior DUI charge on his driving record. A computer check revealed that Perez's license had been suspended in 2011 for driving while impaired.
His bond was set at $4,500.
Joshua Leslie Johnson, 32, was charged with driving on a suspended license on May 16.
Ray said a drug detective saw Johnson driving on West Broad Street in Smithville, and having prior knowledge that Johnson's license was suspended, pulled him over.
He had reportedly stopped Johnson on other occasions, once within the last month. His license is currently suspended for failure to pay child support.
His bond was set at $1,500.
Stephen Hunter Pugh, 28, a prisoner at the jail, was charged with assault on May 15.
The sheriff said that correctional officers  observed a fight taking place in a jail cell on video surveillance. After breaking up the fight and reviewing the recording, officers determined that Pugh was the primary aggressor.
His bond was set at $3,000
Jose Manuel Muzaurieta, 36, of Asheville, North Carolina was charged with being a fugitive from justiceon May 18.
Ray said Muzaurieta was arrested locally on two unrelated charges, and computer check revealed that he is wanted in Alabama for two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.
Alabama authorities have said they will extradite him. His bond was set at $50,000
