Fire consumed the home of Doyle Hendrix at 1492 Sparta Highway last Tuesday night. No one was at the residence when the blaze broke out, and the structure was already fully involved when 911 was called just before 11:30 p.m. A pickup parked in the driveway was destroyed in the conflagration as well. The cause of the fire has not been determined. DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department members from the Midway, Short Mountain Highway, Cookeville Highway, and Main Fire Stations fought the blaze, and the sheriff’s department assisted at the scene.
