Kevin Jay Stewart, 28, of Sparta was charged with theft of property over $1,000, possession of methamphetamine, and a fourth offense of driving while revoked, as well as being cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession on March 9.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, a deputy was dispatched to Ragland Bottom Motel to check out a car parked behind a building. The officer found the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who proved to be Stewart.

Stewart was allegedly wearing a necklace with a clear container attached which held .8 gram of methamphetamine and some marijuana. A hypodermic needle was reportedly found in the cup holder of the vehicle as well.

The sheriff said that Stewart could not produce a driver’s license, and a computer check revealed that his license had been revoked in White County for failure to provide proof of financial responsibility in June 2010. He had reportedly been charged with driving on a revoked license in October 2010, October 2011 and in March 2013 as well.

Stewart’s problems were multiplied when a handgun was found in his possession, and a sheriff's department detective’s investigation revealed that the firearm had been stolen from a home on Four Seasons Road at the same time as three other guns with a total value of around $1,500.

His bond totals $13,500 and he will appear in court on April 7.

Meanwhile, 55-year-old Timothy Allen Presley has been charged with theft of property over $1,000.

Ray said that Presley had several construction tools valued at more than $1,000 in his possession on Jan. 29 which he had refused to return to the owner after being asked to do so over a period of several weeks. Tools allegedly belonging to the victim were reportedly found in Presley's possession and recovered. The case was investigated by a sheriff's department detective.

His bond was set at $5,000 and he will appear in court on April 7.

Johnny Wayne Boles, 47, of Alexandria was charged with a third offense of driving on a revoked license on March 13.

The sheriff said Boles was involved in a motor vehicle accident with property damage on Rocky Road in Alexandria. A check revealed that his license was revoked for driving under the influence, and that he has two previous driving on a revoked license offenses in Wilson County.

His bond was set at $3,500.
