A local man faces aggravated assault charges after he allegedly stabbed another man at a Big Woods Road home on May 18.
Julio Cesar Bernardo, 26, was charged with aggravated assault and criminal impersonation after he reportedly stabbed another man several times with a kitchen knife. The victim was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, where he was treated and released.
The suspect apparently left the scene after the stabbing, and was charged with criminal impersonation when he gave a deputy a false name when he was arrested the next day.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, his department received a call that a stabbing had occurred in the Blue Springs community. Deputies and detectives were dispatched to the scene, and it was determined that Bernardo had stabbed a man. “The victim was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga for multiple stab wounds, where he was treated and released the next morning.” Ray said. “Bernardo became a suspect and we found him the next day.”
Ray said that when an officer arrived at Bernardo's home to serve the warrant, Bernardo told the deputy that his name was Rafael, but later admitted to lying about his name. Bernardo was also served with an assault warrant taken against him in 2009 by an individual in an unrelated incident.
His bond was set at $27,500 and he will appear in court on June 12.
Meanwhile, the sheriff's department has arrested a Morrison man and charged him with the 2012 theft of rods and reels from a boat docked at Sligo Marina. Jarrod Allen Herrin, 25 faces charges of burglary and theft of property under $500.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Herrin entered a pontoon boat at Sligo on October 23, 2012 and took two rods and reels. The case was investigated by a Criminal Detective of the sheriff's department.
Herrin was taken into custody on May 27.His bond was set at $7,500 and he will appear in court June 5.
Shauna Faye Stringer, 27, was charged with domestic assault on May 29. 
The sheriff said a deputy was dispatched to Tubbs Street in Liberty to check out reports of a domestic assault. The officer reportedly separated all the involved parties and spoke with Stringer, who allegedly told him that she and a man were arguing, and that she broke a window in the house. The deputy reported that Stringer admitted that she had punched the man in the head.
She was determined to have been the primary aggressor and was arrested. Her bond was set at $2,500 and she will appear in court on June 5.
Robert Eugene Wright, III, 26, of Murfreesboro was charged with a fourth offense of driving under the influence on May 30. He was also cited for driving on a revoked license, failure to maintain lane of travel, and violation of the implied consent law.
The sheriff said Wright was driving on Highway 70 west in Dowelltown when a deputy observed him leaving his lane of travel. A traffic stop allegedly revealed that Wright had an odor of alcohol on his person, was unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred.
Wright submitted to, but performed poorly on, all field sobriety tasks, and refused to voluntarily submit to a blood test. A computer check revealed that his license was revoked, and that he has had three prior DUI convictions.
Wright was placed under arrest. His bond was set at $6,000 and he will appear in court on June 19.
Lonnie Ray Dyer, 54 was charged with criminal trespass on June 1.
Ray said a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Short Mountain Highway because of an unwanted guest. Dyer was reportedly found sitting in a chair on the front porch of the home.
The sheriff said Dyer knew he was not supposed to be at the residence, because he was arrested on Aug. 24 of last year for aggravated burglary  and the theft of property from this home. Dyer had allegedly been advised by another deputy at another time not to come back onto the property. He was placed under arrest.
