A routine noise disturbance call led to bigger problems for a local man was found with methamphetamine packaged for resale.
Andy Joe Certain, 39, was charged with possession of methamphetamine for sale or delivery and cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of a Schedule IV drug (Xanax) on Feb. 5.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, a deputy responding to due to a noise disturbance call on Loop Circle with Certain. Knowing that Certain had an active warrant against him, the officer placed Certain under arrest.
After obtaining consent to search his room, the officer allegedly found several hypodermic syringes and spoons with residue, as well as four individual baggies containing a rock-like substance. The bags reportedly weighed 2.88 grams, 3.52 grams, 3.53 grams, and 3.54 grams, and the substance inside field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Also found were fourteen pills believed to be Xanax, three sets of scales, a box of sandwich baggies and a grinder. While walking out of the residence, the officer reportedly saw another small baggie containing what appeared to be the same rock-like substance on the console of Certain’s truck. That bag reportedly weighed 0.29 grams and also field tested positive for meth.
His bond was set at $15,000, and his court date is March 2.
Meanwhile, Tyler Lee Bennett, 24, of Pikeville has been charged with theft of property over $10,000.
The sheriff said that Bennett took several pieces of jewelry from a home on Puckett’s Point Road on April 28, 2015. The stolen jewelry was valued at $15,100. The case was investigated by a sheriff’s department detective.
His bond was set at $10,000 and he will appear in court on Feb. 16.
Nicholas Paul Benedict, 28, was arrested for Domestic assault on Feb. 1.
The sheriff said that Benedict and a female companion were at a South Judkins Lane home when Benedict came at the woman aggressively, causing her to fear for her safety due to previous domestic problems. The woman allegedly tried to push Benedict away and get away from him when he wrapped his arms around her neck and threw her to the ground.
He reportedly continued to squeeze her and would not let her go. Another male at the residence then pulled benedict off the woman. He reportedly had the woman’s keys and phone, and would not allow her to call for help. Another female at the home tried to let the woman use her phone, and Benedict took the phone from her as well. The case was investigated by a sheriff’s department detective.
His bond is set at $3,500, and he will appear in court on Feb. 16.
