Tenneco Automotive in Smithville is currently hiring at least 20 people, and hopes to increase the number of employees at the Smithville facility even more in the future if things continue to improve, Mike Alzamora, Senior Manager of Global Communications for Tenneco, told the Review Friday.
“The plant is currently hiring,” Alzamora said. “There are about 20 positions that are open right now. Moving forward, there is potential for more things to happen later this year and into the future, nothing is definite, and but we are cautiously optimistic that things are turning our way in the next several months. There will likely be further announcements down the road.”
Alzamora said parking at the plant may have to be addressed soon, as the existing parking lot is barely adequate to serve the existing staff.
“The parking lot is not really big enough to hold the number of employees they have right now, so they will be looking at how the lot can be expanded. Even if they didn’t add another employee, they would need to look at options on increasing the size of the lot.”
