Tenneco recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in Smithville by breaking ground on a 25,000 square foot expansion to the warehouse at its Clean Air manufacturing plant in Smithville. Along with the warehouse expansion, Tenneco also announced it will be adding 150 new jobs at the Smithville plant by February 2016. Both the expansion and the new jobs are to accommodate the plant’s growing business with automotive customers.

"Tenneco is excited to continue to bring new business and new jobs to the Smithville area," said Steve Grilly, executive director of operations at Tenneco, Clean Air. "We are grateful to the Smithville community for their support in helping us expand our facility."

Cookeville’s J. Cumby Construction Company (JCC) is heading up the expansion project.

Tenneco’s Smithville plant currently employs 481 people and produces Clean Air products including mufflers, converters and full exhaust systems for customers such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda, General Motors and Chrysler.

Applicants interested in applying for Smithville’s new positions, including team specialist, welders, maintenance, drivers and team leaders should contact Tina Pack, staffing specialist, at 615-597-3880. Tenneco is now a direct hire employer with benefits on date of hire.
