A 25-year-old local man faces charges of theft of property over $500 after he allegedly took a laptop computer.
John David Anderson was charged after a sheriff’s department investigation allegedly revealed that he stole the device “on or about” Sept. 20.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said Anderson admitted to officers that he had taken the computer and traded it for pills. Anderson was arrested and taken to the jail for booking.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on Oct. 17.
Todd Mitchell Eldridge, 31, and 29-year-old Mary Rachel Foster of Baxter were charged with domestic assault on Sept. 24.
According to the sheriff, a deputy dispatched to investigate reports of a physical domestic disturbance on Wolf Creek Road spoke with Eldridge, who was covered in blood and had a cut on his chin and face.
Eldridge allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his person. The deputy also spoke with Foster, who reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on her person and a cut on her right ear.
Foster said she and Eldridge were in her Chevy S-10 pickup truck when they got into an altercation. Foster claimed Eldridge bit her right ear.
Eldridge said Foster struck him in the face with something. Foster allegedly admitted to hitting Eldridge in the face with a mirror.
Though Foster was determined to be the primary aggressor, both parties were arrested and brought to the jail for booking.
Bond for both was set at $1,500.
Jose Juan Reyes of Old Blue Springs Road, Smithville was charged with having contraband in a penal institution on Sept. 24.
Ray said a correctional officer was called to the basement cell at the jail to break up a fight. After an investigation, a mop bucket handle and two shanks were found in Reyes' bunk.
His bond was set at $25,000, and he will appear in court on Oct. 3.
Stephen Jason Moore, 38, was charged with evading arrest on Sept. 27.
The sheriff said two deputies were serving a violation of probation warrant on Moore went on Cookeville Highway.
When the deputies arrived Moore allegedly fled into the woods on foot. The officers caught up with him and placed him under arrest.
Moore is now being held without bond on a violation of probation warrant from General Sessions Court. His bond on the evading charge was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on Oct. 9.
April Evon Warren, 35, was charged with public intoxication on Sept. 27.
Sheriff Ray said a deputy was dispatched to Sligo Marina to check out a possible domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival the officer spoke with a man who said that he and his mother had gotten into an altercation because she was intoxicated. The officer made contact with Warren, who allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol on her person and was unsteady on her feet.
Witnesses reportedly said that Warren was running around the parking lot causing a disturbance. Her bond was set at $1,500, and she will appear in court on Oct. 10.
